Here is Australia in pictures. We spent two weeks on the eastcoast of this huge country. The temperature stayed in between 20-25 degrees celcius midday, but dropped a lot during the night, brrr... After Costa Rica and Samoa it felt a little cold, but it was also good to be able to walk more than 100m without being soked in sweatt.. ugh! We wish we could have visited other parts of Australia, but the time was just too short. (Wich means we have to go back... maybe next time!!!)
First stop was Sydney, where we visited Stine and Asle (friends of Linn). We had a very nice stay there, and we finally got to eat homecooked meals, watch tv, stay in a house, drive a car, do laundrey and sleep peacefully,..

We took the ferry into the city.

In Sydney we saw the main tourist atraction; Sydney opera house. It's really beautiful, maybe even more beautiful than the new opera house in Oslo. In the photoes under, you can see the opera house, harbour brige, and the city frontline seen from the opera house.

We visited the botanic gardens, before walking the streets of "the rocks", the older part of Sydney.

As so many other cities, also Sydney has a sky tower. And because we loooove good views, we went up again ;)

The picture says it all.

"Queen victoria building" is a mall inside an old victorian building. We went there rather for the beautiful arcitecture, than the expencive shops.

We ate pancaces in darling harbour's pancacehouse. From the harbour you can see all the lights of Sydneys skyskrapers at night.

After a few relaxing days, we were ready for a new adventure. It was time to hit the road jack. We rented a car and drove up the east coast.(Linn and Lene being the drivers) And man did we have troubles driving on the left side of the road. Not only did we have to use an automatic stick (wich means we, at least Linn, stept on the break a couple times in an attempt to clutch.) It also looked like we tryed to wash the front window all the time (even though it was both dry and sunny), this time in an attempt to use the blinkers. As if that was'nt enough we also drove way to far left, making Jannicke a nerv-vrack in the back seat... Luckily it got better pretty soon. (at least Linn and Lene thought so, haha..)

Due to the expenses of renting, we decided to save some money by camping in the car. And because of all the "no-parking-during-night-time"-signs in all the parking lots of Byron bay, (and when I say all, I mean ALL... we really tryed!!) and because it was very late and very dark, we ended up sleeping next to someones garden. At 6am we woke up by a knocking on the window. We looked up and into the face of a policeman, only inches away from the window. And there we were.. dead tired, clothes hanging all over the place and a voice asking "What do you think you are doing??". As the three confused and naive norwegian girls that we are, we got away with it, and learned that you are not allowed to sleep in a car in someones garden.

Byron bay is a very nice small town, with lots of hippies, surfers, partyes and beautiful beaches.

After newcastle, coffs harbour, byron bay, and gold coast, we reached our final destination: sunshine coast. The first day there we visited the Australian Zoo.
Jannicke has found herself a new boyfriend, haha..

Beautiful creatures.

We even got to feed the kangaroos

Aaw.. They are so cute!! And they sleep 20 hours a day, what a life ;)

We went to a wild life show. And we won a pucture for being the best monkey imitators in the audience. HAHAHA!!! It was actually even shown on the big screen...

In sunshine coast we stayed at Synne and Stig's(friends of Jannicke's) place. A funny, happy couple, with hearts for tattoos and a LOOOOT of shoes.

We all went to Brisbane for a day. A city we found very likeable. It has good shopping, cozy cafes, a public beach, a big river, and lots of culture.

During the time we spendt in Sunshine coast, we went to the beach, had BBQ, watched movies, experienced the nightlife of Moloolaba and worked out (finally).

AND jumped out of an airplane!!!!!! 14000 ft and 65 sec of freefall. it's an indescribable feeling of joy. We would do it again any time. (If we had the opportunity.) Unfortunately we don't have the pics on this computer, so we'll save them for later.

After two hot and sweaty, days in Singapore, we arrived Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia today. Yesterday was actually the Norwegian national day; 17th of may! We celebrated the day in singapore along with all the norwegian families who live there. We know we're too late, but anyway's; "Happy birthday Norway!!!" Hope you all had a good 17th of may.

BTW: When we told you about Samoa, we forgot one tiny, little detail. We were on the radio!! Live!! It was Mika who called in and wanted us to make some noice for the radioshow. We were on our way to town for pizza when he called, and the funny part was, he made it sound as if we were all from Norway. Haha.. Go Norwegians!!
BIG THANKS TO:
Stine&Asle and Synne&stig for making our Australian adventure unforgettable :)
Lene, Linn and Jannicke
